Activities and Initiatives


AMIN offers a diverse array of activities that aim to engage peoples with diverse interests in community development, social networking and educational activities. We have at least 3 events taking place per month!


 

All AMIN sponsored activities and initiatives fall under the following categories:


[1] Interfaith and Intercultural Initiatives
[2] Social and Networking
[3] Professional Development
[4] Volunteerism and Community Service
[5] Educational - functions on 2 levels: (1) internally for members to grow in their understanding of Islam and personal beliefs (2) externally to educate people about Islam and Muslims.
  • Habitat for Humanity   ( 1 Article )


    AMIN has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help provide homes for families in need since January 2008.  AMIN is a partner and steering committee member in the Habitat for Humanity "Interfaith Volunteer Corps" initiative, which allows faith partners to sponsor and help build homes in the Baltimore, MD area. 

    This is a unique opportunity that allows AMIN members to work hand in hand with people of different faiths to not only build homes together, but also build bridges of understanding between each other.

  • Book Club   ( 1 Article )

    The AMIN book club, founded in July 2008, convenes monthly to read and discuss books that are about Islam and/or authored by a Muslim(s). The AMIN reading list contains books that are chosen by AMIN members through an annual survey, range in genre, context, length and reading level. Members are encouraged to fully read the books and be prepared to engage in a moderated thought-provoking and interested discussion. Book club meetings are open to all.
